Colbert Crossing the Alps by phoenixfyre6967 Colbert Crossing the Alps by phoenixfyre6967
I did this partly for a modern interpretation project in art, but I've also sent this in to Stephen Colbert in hopes of him liking it enough to put it on his show, or onto his website. Anyways, this is from Jacques-Louis David's Napoleon Crossing the Alps, but with a far more patriotic feel.

This is so epic. I can definitely see Stephen Colbert appreciating a piece of art like this--it totally embodies his character!! Great job with the little American flag details everywhere, especially in the saddle, tail and, main.

I like how you stayed true to the pose of the original piece but added the personality of Colbert in there with the facial expression. Great work!! I think there could be a bit more detail on his face, but I understand that it's a traditional piece and that can be hard to do.

Keep up the good work, I hope that you get to see this on the Colbert Report someday!

Thanks :D, and heh, I don't think I could've done more detail, the face itself is I think smaller than the size of the end of my finger. My art teacher actually told me to do less detail and just get the feel of him, but I'm sort of a detail freak.

I emailed it to him months ago, but no response unfortunately :(, so now i'm waiting until I turn 18 so I can go to his studio and show him it myself

I completely understand, you have a pretty good amount of detail anyways.

DO IT. I bet you'd get some camera time too ;)
